Y-WE’s Giving Circle: 50 Adults Sponsoring 50 girls—it’s that simple!

Y-WE is developing a giving circle of adults who directly sponsor young women to attend Y-WE programs. Participation in Y-WE is free for young women because over 95% of the girls we serve are from low-income backgrounds. It costs approximately $1000/young woman for us to operate our programs. Thus, our goal is to secure a circle of adults who wish to sponsor individual girls’ participation by “Giving or Getting” $1000 each.

The benefits of becoming a giving circle member include:

1. Getting to be part of a community of donors, girls, and mentors who care about building a better future for the world.

2. You receive a letter and photo of the young woman you are sponsoring. She will tell you how the program has impacted her life and you will get to see the positive effect of your donation in a tangible way.

3. We will hold a private party for all the giving-circle donors and the girls who received their support in the summer of 2013. So you will get to meet other people who are part of the circle, the girls you supported, and really “feel” the impact of your contribution.

How it works:

Giving Circle members may choose to contribute $1000 of their own funds, or they may choose to fundraise by asking their friends to contribute. Through a new online program on our website called “Friends Asking Friends,” members can easily sign up to raise a scholarship. The software enables members so send pre-drafted personal emails out to their contacts, set their own fundraising goal, track their progress as they strive to meet their goal, and allow their friends to contribute through online credit card donations or mailing checks directly to the organization. Members do not have to deal with any hassle—they just sign up for a personal page, upload photos and content about themselves if they wish, and then send out emails through Friends Asking Friends. It’s an easy way to contribute to a great cause and encourage your loved ones to support your efforts. Plus it syncs with Facebook—so all your friends can see the wonderful work you are doing to support young women in the NW!
