In Y-WE Create, we focus on exploring a variety of creative mediums in a safe space that encourages trying new things and taking creative risks. As with all Y-WE programs, Create is free to attend and open to young women, trans, non-binary, and gender expansive youth ages 13-19. Create is offered as a school-year cohort (with different creative mediums explored in the Fall, Winter, & Spring) as well as a week-long summer camp.
Y-WE Create is made up of three 8-week sessions that allow participants to explore various arts and creative practices. We provide opportunities that encourage youth to expand their horizons and find their passions. In each session, participants will hear from a professional artist about their process, and engage with three different creative modalities by the end of the year.
Fall 2026: Board Game Design

Location: Young Women Empowered (5623 Rainier Ave S, Seattle)
Step into the role of artist and game designer! In Fall Create, youth will dream up, design, illustrate, and prototype their own original board games while exploring game mechanics, visual storytelling, color, wayfinding, and world-building. Through hands-on studio time, playtesting, collaboration, and a field trip to GeekGirlCon, participants will build creative confidence and bring their ideas from first sketch to playable game.

Techniques in mixed media: A process oriented creative workshop series
Facilitated by Deycha Nhtae
Develop your personal artistic styles through mixed media techniques in painting, collage and drawing! In this series we will explore process art, the elements of art and principles of design. Together we will explore creative expression through collaboration and artistic risk taking! Students can expect to create an array of 2D artworks that represent their unique aesthetic values!
