makayla@y-we.org

Through experience and community connections, Makayla has discovered an affinity for both working with people and developing processes. Makayla’s work focuses on intersectional social justice, student support and leadership development, community outreach, and building sustainable systems of care. Makayla is dedicated to creating and organizing processes (even the mundane) that prioritize the communities they serve while ensuring program success. Their goal is to foster networks of love and growth, empowering communities to thrive.Makayla’s journey blends their education in Public Health-Global Health and Human Rights from the University of Washington with hands-on experience as a community outreach coordinator in the non-profit sector, a case manager for underrepresented college students, a program coordinator for student leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for university faculty and staff.

Outside of work, Makayla finds joy and energy in live music, arts and crafts, cooking plant-based meals for friends and family, and soaking up the sun.
