Yirede (Yireidi) Valencia – Martinez [Hñähñu from Zimapan, Hidalgo, Mexico] is an Indigenous Muslim woman. Her lifestyle, culture, and religion has greatly influenced her work as an organizer and multimedia artist. Yirede has been a longtime community organizer and fighter since early memories alongside their Nänä (mom). They’re a lover of many things with many hobbies, or maybe it’s just the ADHD. Currently, they are nurturing our future generations with Young Women Empowered as their Program Operations Coordinator. Yirede isn’t afraid of getting on people’s nerves (respectfully) to turn in their paperwork alongside other logistics for things to run smoothly. A saying she holds close to her heart is, “Habu ja mhödi ja nzaki (Hñähñu) – where there is love there is life.”
