Summer programs are underway, and we invite you to see what’s germinating at Y-WE’s garden plot at Marra Farms! We’re kicking off our summer campaign with an inside glimpse of our farming and food justice program, Y-WE Grow.
Grow empowers our youth with farming, leadership, and self-reliance skills as they grow culturally relevant fresh food and increase healthy food access for local communities of color. See what we’re cultivating on the farm and what youth are saying about their experience in this 1-minute video:
When this campaign achieves full funding, collectively we make possible free access to:
1. Programming that centers joy, healing, health, and embodiment in reciprocal relationship with our environment
2. Skills for interdependence, such as woodworking, composting, plant medicine, and food preservation
3. Environmental and food justice education that centers Indigenous perspectives and engages with local communities
4. Fresh food distribution to the South Park community, disrupting environmental racism and food apartheid locally
5. Green jobs skill-building, such as gardening, composting, harvesting, tool management, farm-to-table cooking, ecosystem restoration, fruit tree care, and more!
