Q&A Format:
Q: What does Y-WE mean to you?
A: Y-WE is a community of belonging where everyone can bring all their intersectional personalities and be accepted and be themselves. It’s what I wish I had when I was younger, it’s what I want for my kids to have in the future to have as well. I love having a community that accepts you for who you are and that really listens to you and appreciates your individuality, and sees you in a way that I’ve personally never been seen.
Q: How do you Bloom?
A: I Bloom when I’m grounded, in my husband, in my kids, in my ancestors. As long as I’m grounded they give me wings to continue to grow and be myself and not have to hide.
Q: What makes you feel powerful?
A:I come from a long line of Latinas that were told they were too much, too loud, too hard-headed, too outspoken, and so anytime I’m being “too much,” I feel powerful because I feel them in me. And I feel their happiness at it being ok finally.
