Greetings Y-WE Community,
The experience of living through this global pandemic is humbling. Every day I find myself challenged to navigate a very steep learning curve of how to live life and conduct our work in a new way, and all of my big feelings about these changes and the things I can’t control.
As we prepare for Summer Programs, I asked the team to take a step back and remember their why. Why do we do this work? Why is it important to curate communities of belonging and cultivate young womxn to be courageous changemakers?
I am reminded that this work grew from a need. Youth wanted support and mentorship that they were not receiving from their schools or in some cases even from their families. This evolved into something greater than the sum of its parts and continues to evolve as our needs evolve.
To that end, we would love your input. Let us know what you need from us this summer. Each of us have our own reasons for choosing to be at Y-WE, but the core commonality is that this is our heart work. You are important to us and we are committed to being here for you as we envision a new world together.
