Jaydalen Blossom first encountered Y-WE as a 13-year-old and has participated in many Y-WE programs over the past six years. Now a Y-WE Grow Intern, Jaydalen reflects on finding her ‘why’ at Y-WE and what’s motivating her to help other youth discover their purpose and create positive change.
Ri’Chara participated in Y-WE programs for over four years, then went on to serve as a mentor and Y-WE intern. Her participation in Y-WE Tech sparked a passion for computers that she’s continuing to pursue in college, and Y-WE’s community of belonging was central to her experience.
Y-WE provides opportunities for our youth to show up in their fullness, take creative risks, and try new things. Wingale Teferi shares her experience finding belonging and exploring new opportunities in her time at Y-WE.
Y-WE creates necessary conditions for action – personal, interpersonal, institutional, systems – that advance equity and justice. Centering youth of color voices and cultivating their agency, creativity, and leadership is fundamental to claiming a liberated future now.
